Pilots

Qualifications

An Airline Transport Pilot’s Licence (ATPL), is the primary requisite to be a pilot. To qualify for the license, you may have to complete the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Class 1 Medical course.

Skills

Excellent leadership skills, problem-solving skills and ability to make quick decisions are the main skills required for pilots. They have to remain focused under pressure, interpret complex information and make spilt second decisions.

Cabin Crew

Popularly known as flight attendants, air hostesses, or flight stewards, the cabin crew is responsible for the safety, and comfort of airline passengers travelling during flights. A friendly demeanor and professional attitude is very much essential. They are responsible for providing flight amenities like blankets, snacks, drinks to passengers, deal with security and emergency situations, and administer first aid when needed

The job involves a very high level of customer interaction, including greeting passengers and leading them to the seats and guiding passengers with special needs or unaccompanied minors. They should remain calm, composed and friendly at all times while dealing with different types of passengers.

Qualifications

To be a cabin crew member, you should have GCSEs (A* to C) in English and maths, a valid passport, and have a good level of general fitness. You’ll also need clearance from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). A basic training course on hospitality, safety and legal and immigration issues will be a big plus. On recruitment the aspirants may have to successfully complete a mandatory 4-6 week training course on Safety & Emergency Procedures ( SEP)

Skills

Excellent communication skills, diplomacy and confidence in dealing with people are the major skills required. You should be a good team player and offer exceptional customer service skills.

Air Traffic Control staff

They are responsible for issuing takeoff and landing instructions to pilots and monitoring the direct the movement of aircraft on the ground through the use of radar and computers. The air traffic controls keeps in touch with the pilot of the aircrafts and provide relevant information to pilots, such as runway closures, weather updates as well as other critical information

Responsibilities

It is a fast-paced job that needs quick decision making, sound judgement and perfect communication skills. They are responsible to ensure the safe flight of the aircraft, the management of the flow of aircraft in and out of the airport and emergencies . They work within airport traffic control towers, at the terminal or Air Route Traffic Control Centers (ARTCC), to direct all air traffic.

Qualifications

Air traffic control license from the National Air Traffic Services (NATS) is the basic qualification needed. You can complete your training whilst working as a trainee controller. To enroll as a trainee, you should have at least 5 GCSEs at grades 9 to 4 (A* to C) or equivalent, a medical examination, and DBS security clearance
